Pearl Harbor Snub Angers Veterans

December 9, 2013 |

110629-N-RI884-048December 7th marks the day that Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese forces.

This year was the 72nd anniversary of the attack and has in previous years, been commemorated by a “Missing Man Formation” fly over.  But not this year, the Hawaii Air National Guard are under orders not to perform the maneuver.

Due to federal budget cuts, there isn’t enough money in the kitty to honor the veterans and deceased.

Wait?  What?

Did not Obama, his wife, his offspring and inconceivable amounts of secret service and other government employees not head off to Tanzania, and various other places in sub-Saharan Africa this summer?  What was that cost?  Depending on sources, anywhere between 60 and 100 million dollars.

While it’s too expensive to allow an extra cost for the missing man formation, it is OK to spend disgusting amounts of money so that you can fly around the globe like Saudi Royalty.   While it’s too expensive to honor the dead at Pearl Harbor, it is OK to spend 60+ million tax payer dollars where no extravagance is either too expensive or too superfluous.  60+ million for a one week vacation.  One week.

White House tours have been canceled to save 74 thousand dollars a week, government employees went without pay days, no fly over, but Michelle who admittedly has not been proud of her country for decades sees nothing wrong with spending tax dollars for a needlessly expensive junket instead of spending money on any number of other actual expenditures.  Yes, like paying the employees who provide your security for example.

“I’m totally disgusted. The one day of the year when we’re honoring our military from World War II,” said retired U.S. Army Sgt. Allen Bodenlos.

It is disgusting and an incredibly disrespectful snub against those who stood against tyranny.
